The Whole Drivetrain, Under One Roof
Your driveline is everything that carries power from the transmission to the wheels — the driveshaft, the axles, the joints, the differential, and on a 4WD or AWD vehicle, the transfer case. When one part of it wears out, the symptoms rarely announce which part is to blame.
That's the problem with taking a driveline complaint to a general repair shop. A vibration, a clunk, or a whine underneath your vehicle can come from the transmission or from the driveline, and the two produce remarkably similar symptoms. Diagnosed in isolation, it's easy to replace the wrong component — and still have the noise.
Why This Matters
Transmission and driveline symptoms overlap. Because we're transmission specialists who also do complete driveline work, we diagnose the drivetrain as a single system — so you replace the part that's actually failing, not the one that's easiest to guess at.

Signs Your Driveline Needs Attention
Driveline wear is gradual, and it tends to get louder and more expensive the longer it's left. These are the symptoms worth booking on:
- A vibration that gets worse as you speed up — often a worn U-joint, an out-of-balance driveshaft, or a failing carrier bearing
- A clunk when you shift into drive or reverse — typically excess play in the U-joints, CV joints, or differential
- Clicking or popping when you turn — the classic sign of a worn CV joint, usually loudest on tight, slow turns
- Grease on the inside of a wheel or tire — a torn CV boot flinging its grease out; catch it early and you replace a boot instead of a whole axle
- A whine or howl from underneath — commonly a differential low on fluid or with worn gears or bearings
- Fluid leaking under the centre or rear of the vehicle — a differential or transfer case leak, or a failed axle seal
Catch a Torn Boot, Save an Axle
Driveline repair rewards early attention more than almost any other system on your vehicle. A torn CV boot is an inexpensive fix — but once the grease escapes and road grit gets into the joint, that joint is on borrowed time, and you're replacing the entire axle. The same is true of a differential that's low on fluid: topping it up is routine, while replacing chewed-up gears is not.
If something underneath your vehicle has started vibrating, clunking, or clicking, we'll put it on the hoist and tell you honestly what we find — and what it will take to fix it — before any work begins.
